We worked with Andrea Kuhfuß and her team from QLab for a Design Thinking Sprint as part of a business forum with the top management of Sweco Germany. The team led us through an intense four hours at breathtaking speed and with the highest level of expertise. The focus was on our value proposition: Tranforming Society Together. How can we work with our colleagues and customers to sustainably change tomorrow's society?

Empathy, curiosity, and a genuine interest in the other party's needs are needed for real change. This was vividly demonstrated to us - methodically, sympathetically and warmly. There were enlightening moments and beautiful learning effects that we can take with us into our everyday work.

We were driven by the desire for focus and a common denominator. The QLab's experience and (methodological) expertise for teasing out ideas appealed to us - in the process, we all rediscovered an appreciation for the common cause (our common denominator).

Andrea Kuhfuß and her team at QLab conducted a primary investigation into the question of a sustainable and successful future for the Verden municipal utility and the possibilities of a climate-neutral energy supply. Within a short time, the young, innovative team developed helpful recommendations for action.

After founding our team, we wanted to gain as much knowledge as possible about a market segment quickly. For the QLab Sprint, the focus was on this question: "How can we support companies in the German photovoltaic industry to strengthen their business operations to drive the energy turnaround faster?" The results of the QLab Sprint included a map of the solar industry players with their respective current challenges and a prototype for a website with our offering.

Working with the QLab provided us with a fundamental understanding of the market, which benefits us in our current collaboration with municipal utilities and companies in the solar industry and wind power companies. For us, the QLab is a fixed network and exchange partner with the same goal: to position companies well for the energy transition and digitalization.

The Design Thinking workshop with Ms. Kuhfuß initiated new thinking strategies and approaches. The methods learned lead away from the well-trodden paths of idea generation and are mostly easy to apply. A good side effect is that you also learn something new about yourself and your colleagues. Ms. Kuhfuß led our group through the workshop with a sure hand - very competent, flexible, and determined.

At AWATREE, we gave the QLab the question of a simplified business model: instead of our classic "the city is your customer" approach, the international team focused on citizens: insiders. We got terrific insights in interviews with experts from all over the world. The testing of the developed "minimal viable product" (MVP) in different European cities was impressive, and all findings were documented in an attractive final report.

A QLab Sprint enables a new way of looking at things, provides excellent impulses and is, in my opinion, the best recommendation for getting a "breath of fresh air" into the most diverse problems. Thank you for the great work and the professional and efficient management by Patrick and Andrea!

The sprint positively challenged me and allowed me to apply newly learned work techniques directly. I have rarely worked on a project with such focus and forward direction - the "pressure" to deliver the first tangible answers to the question within five weeks has welded us together as a sprint team and motivated us to keep the workspace constantly high.

What else I take away from the sprint: "Action before overthinking" - in a new project, not everything has to be perfectly thought out and planned from day 1, but the best insights develop when you "hit the road" and ask, test, and learn from it—a way of working that I will continue to use in my job.

Bringing an innovation project to a successful conclusion in five weeks with young international professionals who have never met before. That sounds impossible. But it isn't. We had the courage to engage with QLab's process entirely and are thrilled with what Andrea and her team made possible. An internal project would not have produced this result, even months later.

As part of the first InnoNation Festival, we at BDI experimented with participatory formats and a new event dynamic. Andrea Kuhfuß and her team assisted us with the methodological design and the moderation of the Deep Dive Industrial Metaverse. Patrick Runge shared his expertise with the audience on the Gendered Innovations panel.

Andrea was extremely flexible and quick to flesh out abstract ideas. She immediately understood that we needed many people to collaborate. She came up with an innovative and workable proposal that included the expertise of both guests and regular participants - coupled with empathy and topic sensitivity, Andrea was exactly the right choice for our innovative event format.
